The County of Wellington intends to control weeds along the following County roadsides under their jurisdiction: all County roads within the Town of Erin, Township of Guelph/Eramosa, Township of Puslinch and in the Township of Centre Wellington - WR18, WR21, WR22, WR26, WR29. Roadside weeds are sprayed to control selective broadleaf weeds and wild carrot, as per the Weed Control Act. Weed Control - Spraying and mowing to help reduce the spread of noxious weeds.To notify the Roads Division about a dead animal on a County road or roadside, please contact the Roads Division. Dead Animal Removal - Removing dead animals found on the side or travelled portion of County roads. ![]() Adopt-A-Road - Coordinating roadside cleanup on County roads.Debris Pick-Up - Picking up illegally dumped garbage, including litter tossed from vehicles.Brush Cutting - Removing brush that may obstruct visibility or impede various roadside operations.Tree Removal and Tree Planting - Removing trees that may cause safety hazards and planting trees where appropriate. ![]() Tractor Mowing - Mowing to improve roadside visibility and control noxious weeds.Key roadside maintenance operations include: The purpose of road maintenance is to keep roadside areas in a tidy and safe condition. Sweeping - Maintaining paved intersections free of gravel on the pavement.Washout and Base Repair - Applying new gravel to roads and shoulders that have been damaged by heavy rain.Dust Control - Suppressing dust, where necessary, with the application of magnesium chloride.Grading Loose Top - Applying new gravel to gravel roads with grading and compaction.Shoulder Grading - The key operations are shouldering and grading which involve building up gravel shoulders with new material to meet the proper slope of the asphalt surface.Patching - Patching potholes and cracks in asphalt with hot mix or cold mix asphalt to repair minor damage.Key road surface management operations include: The purpose of road surface management is to delay road deterioration and extend the life of pavements by repairing minor road defects. In the winter months, from approximately mid-November to mid-April, the workforce is supplemented with additional equipment operators, to allow a generally 24-hour service, seven days a week. During the non-winter months and during regular office hours, contact the Roads Division to have your inquiry dispatched to the appropriate garage. In non-winter months, regular roads operations take place from Monday to Thursday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, and Friday from 7:00 am to 11:00 am.
